What’s happening Calgary is set to grow again, as City Council approved proposals that will see new communities expand to the city’s borders and prepare for an expected influx of new residents.
The City says the new communities are needed to help accommodate an estimated 88,000 people who are expected to move to Calgary over the next four years.
The five communities recommended included three in the far southeast corner of Calgary: Seton Ridge (Brookfield Residential), Logan Landing (Genesis Land Development) and Nostalgia (Jayman Telsec). The two others are Lewiston (Genesis Land), located in the northwest, and Belvedere West (Truman), by the city’s eastern boundary.
The official go-ahead for three additional communities given tentative approval by council will depend on information expected in the November budget. Those communities are Rangeview Trafford (WestCreek) and Glacier Ridge communities C (Qualico Communities) and D (Brookfield Residential).

Rohit Communities’ Safety Week

Rohit Communities recently celebrated safety on the job site with their trade partners. The week-long event featured crew pop-ups at work sites all across the city as a show of appreciation to trades professionals for being Caught Working Safe and included breakfast, lunch, prizes, and toolbox chats. This year’s theme was “Why are hazard assessments important to do?” and the Rohit team was excited to have the opportunity to be back in person to talk about this critical part of their Safety program.
“Our Friday finale included a barbecue lunch (courtesy of Davidson Enman Lumber), knowledge-testing and fun-filled skills drills like ‘Quick draw’ (drilling nails), ‘Keep it within the lines’ (sawing 2x4), and ‘Hammer Time’ (nailing contest),” says Rohit Communities senior marketing coordinator Stuart Wen.
“There was a thank you to our trades by Garry Grant, our safety advisor, as well as several prizes handed out to contest participants,” he adds. Learn more about Rohit Communities and their designer homes visit rohitcommunities.ca

Glacier Ridge opens first showhomes

These are exciting times in the northwest, as Anthem Properties’ new master planned community of Glacier Ridge opened its first showhomes in July.
Development is well underway for this 832-acre community just off 144 Avenue and Sarcee Trail in the northwest. New showhomes are from the builder group that includes Cedarglen Homes, Jayman BUILT, Morrison Homes, Shane Homes and Trico Homes. A grand opening celebration is planned early this fall.
Glacier Ridge offers families a rare chance to live in a brand-new community in Calgary’s desirable northwest. The community’s first collection of homes is inspired by Western Canada’s historic farmhouses and ranches, with Paired, Laned, Front Drive and Park Front home types available.
