Homes by Avi selects Christy Niedersteiner as the winner of its 15th annual Dream Home Artist Project.

Trico Homes starts first “ultra-estate” community

Trico Homes is exploring Calgary’s ultra-estate market as it commences the development of the new community of Hamilton Heights just south of the city.

In partnership with Telsec Property Corp., Trico Homes will be offering one-of-a-kind, luxury estate homes amidst the stunning mountain vistas of DeWinton. “We are really excited about this community, not only because it’s Trico’s first community in DeWinton, but because this is an Ultra Estate product we haven’t built in any other community,” says Michael Brown, President of Trico Residential.

Hamilton Heights is comprised of 18, 2.5 acre lots, each with private gated entrances. The community surrounds one large cul-de-sac, with a paved road that connects to each individual gate and is only 10 minutes away from Calgary’s southern edge. Cedarglen Homes is Calgary’s latest Net Zero Builder

Cedarglen Homes joins the ranks of Calgary homebuilders offering Net Zero homes ahead of proposed new building code that will require such energy-saving measures.

“As Canada looks to reduce emissions to NZ (Net-Zero) by 2050 and looking ahead to the proposed code that new buildings will be built to NZr (Net-Zero Ready) by 2030, we believe that the innovation needs to start today,” Cedarglen Homes President, Howard Tse, tells Inside Calgary.

To be considered a NZ home, it is designed and built to consume as much energy as it produces over a course of the year, he adds. While a NZr home is designed to the same specifications and is ready to produce energy with the addition of a renewable energy source such as solar panels.

Cedarglen’s first NZ home was built in the community of Livingston in the northwest. Some of the features included enhanced building envelope that provides better air tightness, enhanced insulation, and higher efficient appliances like a Hybrid hot water tank. “In addition, we completed the home by adding solar panels to the roof,” Tse says. Rangeview’s greenhouse takes shape

The garden-to-table vision for Rangeview takes shape, literally, as construction of the Rangeview Community Greenhouse begins.

“We are excited to share that the construction of the Rangeview Community Greenhouse is well underway!” says Sarah Fehr, marketing coordinator at Section23, Rangeview’s developer.

“This beautiful structure is one of many amenities planned for this community. We cannot wait to complete this project and open the doors to our residents. The Community Greenhouse in Rangeview will be a hub for year-round gardening activities, programs, events, and workshops,” she adds.

The greenhouse, built in the Cape Cod style, is a space for community members to connect with each other and learn about growing in a controlled environment. It is aimed at providing residents with a warm and welcoming space to grow edible and ornamental plants. It’s the perfect community amenity that takes full advantage of Calgary’s short but intense growing season.
