What’s happening

Cancer care and research in Alberta remains the priority as the 2024 Cash & Cars Lottery was launched in front of Calgary’s new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. There are 1,385 prizes this year, including the grand prize winner who will be able to choose from either a $2.3 million Edmonton dream home from Kimberley Homes, a life-changing pay day of $2 million in cash, or $1.25 million towards a home by Truman Homes in the Calgary area plus $1 million in cash. Tickets to support this worthy cause are available cashandcarslottery.ca.

Grand opening of Highstreet in Cornerstone

Anthem Properties celebrated a major milestone in the development of their Cornerstone community with the Grand Opening of Highstreet In Cornerstone, a major shopping centre designed to service the daily needs of Northeast Calgary.

Until the opening of Highstreet at Cornerstone there has been no large-format grocer within a 10-minute drive, Anthem says in a statement.

The 142,000 sq. ft. shopping centre will be anchored by Chalo! FreshCo, Shoppers Drug Mart, BSW Liquor, Dollarama and BMO. The centre will also include cafés, restaurants, retail shops, as well as health, wellness, personal and financial services.

Excel expands in Mahogany

Excel Homes just opened four new showhomes in Mahogany, giving a sophisticated oomph to the four-season resort lifestyle the popular lake community in the southeast offers.

Excel opened two new laned and two front-drive garage showhomes that give extra focus on an affordable yet stylish lifestyle in one of Calgary’s hottest communities.

“There is no other community in Calgary that compares to Mahogany, featuring a 63-acre freshwater lake, the largest in the city, that allow residents to enjoy swimming, paddleboarding, pedal boating and fishing,” says Excel Homes Marketing Manager Kristina Plank. “Mahogany offers authentic year-round lakeside living.”

New are the Bellevue, Excel’s top selling laned model, and the Berkley which is a brand-new laned model and the first showhome of its kind. While the new front-garage show homes in Mahogany are the Hawthorne and a brand-new model – the Mason II, which Plank says is “a spin-off of our stunning Mason model, but larger.”

Excel offers a wide range of homes in Mahogany, ranging from 1,485 – 2,911 sq ft. “making it the perfect community for anyone who enjoys lakeside living and an active lifestyle,” Plank adds. Find out more at excelhomes.ca.

Vermilion Hill launches next phase

The family-friendly lifestyle offered by Vermilion Hill was in full display as the new southwest community from Qualico Communities marked the release of its latest phase with its Pondside Adventure event.

“We held lots of fun activities like scavenger hunts and games at our new gazebo centrepiece at the pond. It served as a wonderful backdrop for the festivities,” Qualico Communities Director of Marketing and Customer Care Emily Smith told Inside Calgary.

Phase 3 lots are now available, and features townhomes and laned homes from Shane Homes, Broadview Homes, and NuVista Homes. Front Garage Homes from Sterling Homes, Homes by Avi, and Genesis Builders are also available.
