What’s happening

There’s a sense of optimism is the air – summer is almost here. The sun-filled season will be a little different this year, with many annual festivals and events making the difficult, yet appropriate, decision to postpone or cancel due to continued public health and safety concerns. There’s caution as our province begins taking its first steps to ease the restrictions and closures put in place over the last two months, but there’s also hope that life can slowly get back to normal – or at least, a new normal. We saw golf courses open in early May, and by the time you’re reading this, we may also see restaurants, cafés and outdoor Farmer’s Markets begin to open under new guidelines. One of these include 124 Grand Market, which is scheduled to open on May 14 for its ninth season. Offering its regular twice-weekly market along 124 Street, visitors can expect this year’s market to include physical distancing between vendors and patrons, as well as robust cleaning and sanitation procedures. Whether you’re planning on spending more time at home, or looking forward to safely venturing out, remember to always check for the latest safety updates and recommendations at alberta.ca/covid19.
