What’s happening

As our province continues to ease the restrictions put in place for public health and safety, Edmontonians are spending more time discovering all the fantastic amenities our city and province have to offer. Local businesses and organizations are also continuing their innovative approach to delivering products and services – including developing unique take-home menu options and specially curated experiences. One example is the Canadian Homebuilders Association – Edmonton Region, who will hold a Drive-In Night at the Movies event on July 10! This family-friendly, free event allows guests to safely enjoy an evening out from the comfort of their own car (nostalgia included). Held at the River Cree Resort and Casino, the drive-in movie theme has been an in-demand activity over the last few months and is one of the many stories of adaptability our city has to share. No matter what your summer plans include, be sure to always check for the latest health and safety recommendations at alberta.ca/covid19.

The Summer Scoops

What pairs well with sunshine? Deliciously sweet and cool treats from some of our city’s finest ice-cream and gelato spots, of course! So, grab a scoop (or two) and let’s toast to summer.

1 La Carraia Gelato

With only two locations in the world (one being Florence, Italy) this gelato spot serves up some authentic options that are both unique and incredibly tasty. From the elevated Ricotta Cheese and Pear, to classic Pistachio or the unexpected Yogurt and Nutella – prepare to be impressed and likely addicted.

2 Kind Ice Cream

Indulge in small batch ice cream focused on local ingredients and handcrafted in Edmonton. This shop offers an ‘Always’ menu that includes 12 delectable flavours; including Birthday Cake, Cold Brew Coffee and Vegan options. Be sure to check out their Rotating Flavours for limited-time-only deliciousness.

3 Yelo’d Ice Cream + Bake Shoppe

Get ready to experience Filipino and Asian inspired flavours presented in magically smooth soft serve ice cream. With the menu changing every two weeks, you’re sure to want to make repeat visits! A fan favourite, must-try flavour: UBE (Purple yam), which is both a treat for your taste buds and picture-worthy pretty.

4 Made by Marcus Ice Cream

There was quite the buzz last year when this ice cream shop announced it was opening in Edmonton – and for good reason. Made-from-scratch ice cream combined with next-level flavour combinations (like Duchess Earl Grey Financier and Lemon Curd Blueberry) makes this spot well-worth any wait.
