Mattamy Homes LTD. and Tridel were named Home Builders of the Year by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) at its annual BILD Awards gala on April 28. Tridel earned the distinction as mid/highrise builder of the year, while title for lowrise went to Mattamy.

The Home Builder of the Year Awards recognize the builders who set the standard for the rest of the industry through their professionalism and dedication to excellence. The winners are leaders in improving the overall image of the industry through their commitment to quality, caring for their customers and staff, and contributing to their community. A key component of the judging process is a customer satisfaction survey completed by the builder’s purchasers.

Mid/High-Rise Home Builder of the Year, Tridel is well known for creating sustainable and energy-efficient communities of the highest-quality standards. Tridel condominiums account for a quarter of all residential Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects across the GTA and Tridel is the largest LEED certified highrise developer in Canada.

An innovator in customer care, Tridel offers homebuyers 24-hour access to information about their new homes. They also provide a platform for homeowners to address issues, share ideas and experiences.

In determining this year’s winner, the judges noted, “Tridel is continuously a leader in quality, customer service and sustainability.”

This is the fourth time Tridel has been named the GTA’s Home Builder of the Year. The company won the title in 2004 and 2013, and was the inaugural winner of the Home Builder of the Year Mid/Highrise last year.

Tridel also won this year’s BILD Awards for Best Customer Care and Green Builder of the Year, Mid/Highrise.

Mattamy Homes, the Lowrise Home Builder of the Year, is recognized as North America’s largest privately owned home builder. The company attributes its success to its dedication to continuous evolution and ongoing innovation, which it sees as essential in its goal of creating happy homeowners.

An innovator in building energy efficient homes, since 2006 Mattamy Homes has delivered 13,692 homes into NRCAN’s Energy Star new home program, saving homeowners almost $24 million. Most recently, Mattamy was awarded EnerQuality Energy Star Builder Of The Year for its contribution to Energy Star advancement in new home construction.

Through it philanthropic work, Mattamy is actively involved in the communities it helps to create. From initiatives such as its annual Tour de Bleu bicycle ride which has raised more than $6 million for health care facilities in the GTA to sponsoring local youth sports teams, Mattamy is dedicated to building healthy, vibrant communities.

This is the seventh time Mattamy has won Home Builder of Year. The company previously won in 2001, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015.
