Metro One brings new excitement to Calgary's condo scene
July 21, 2025
The southwest corner of Calgary has always been a new homebuyer’s dream. With all the existing amenities and easy accessibility, it’s one of the most sought-after residential locations, especially for new homes. The problem has always been affordability, but now with Metro One in Silverton, new homebuyers get the best opportunity to own a home in this hot – and getting hotter - location.
Metro One is the first condo development by Cardel Homes within the master planned community of Silverton in a booming, dynamic area just off Macleod Trail and Stoney Trail in the southwest. It represents the most affordable opportunity to own a stylish, well-designed condo in this fast-growing part of town.
Cardel Homes Sales and Marketing Manager, Multi-Family, Warren Saunders, says Metro One’s prime location within the community of Silverton guarantees an enviable lifestyle for any buyer. “It’s integration within a convenient transit-oriented development provides unmatched access to existing amenities, some within walking distance, and most within a 5–10-minute drive,” he says.
The development is also a significant milestone for Cardel Homes as Metro One marks the launch of the multi-family product line to the Cardel Homes Alberta region. Silverton itself is a vital development for Cardel Homes, as they are the land developer and exclusive homebuilder in the community, giving them the most control in achieving its vision.
Saunders says that, for Metro One, Cardel Homes has gone to great lengths to define a new architectural style that resonates with today’s condo buyers committed to home ownership and protecting their investment. “Our focus is on delivering Cardel’s trusted quality through a value-engineered building design. This modern-vintage approach offers best-in-class design and establishes a new benchmark for residential midrise wood-frame condos in Alberta.”
Modern design
Metro One will have four, four-storey wood-frame buildings distinctly designed with Cardel’s own modern-vintage architecture. It will have a total of 304 units. “We will continue with the Metro Series of Cardel Homes condos with an additional eight sites in Silverton totalling over 1,500 units,” Saunders says.
There are seven floor plans that range from 554 sq. ft. to 1,060 sq. ft., suited for a variety of lifestyles, including singles, couples, retirees, and even young families. They consist of one-bedroom, one-bedroom + den, two-bedroom and two-bedroom corner suites. Prices start from the $300,000s.
Each suite has been carefully designed to maximize functionality and storage while incorporating curated interior styles that evoke a bespoke feeling.
Interior styles have been curated by Cardel’s award-winning design team, bringing the best of their North American experience to Cardel’s fresh new take on new condo living. Metro One also has a brand pillar dedicated to healthy living that will include benefits for homeowners relating to comfort, quiet and security. This will be demonstrated through features such as energy efficiency, air quality and reducing VOCs in materials used.
Efficient living
Outdoor spaces for each unit were also carefully designed to give a more wholesome experience. “The unique modern-vintage architecture incorporates five different balcony types to suit different lifestyles,” Saunders says.
This is a unique aspect to Metro where homebuyers will be able to select from a Sunshine Balcony, Terrace Balcony (on the second floor), Cabana balconies that provide a more secluded feel. For those that are wanting protection from the sun and elements Metro One also has covered ground-floor patios and a limited number of veranda-style balconies on the end units.
Even the shared outdoor spaces were meticulously designed. There’s the Metro One Courtyard Park which took a master-planned approach to the central courtyard park, including a well-treed and landscaped gathering space with two controlled-access fire pits, lighting, green space, and a stylized bench and trellis canopy structure.
In addition, the development includes two distinct terraces. The North Terrace serves as a private transition space, offering residents access to Silverton’s community amenities. This area is thoughtfully designed with landscaping, hard surfaces, ample seating, and privacy screening. Complementing this is the South Terrace, a public/private transition zone that provides access to amenities on 194th Avenue and the larger Silverado community, also featuring landscaping, hard surfaces, seating, and privacy screening for residents.
Spectacular location
Saunders says they are seeing very good interest in Metro One in anticipation of a sales launch in 2025. Key has been its lovely and thoroughly accessible location.
“Metro One is truly in a special location,” Saunders says. “Metro One’s number one draw is its convenient and accessible location in Silverton. With quick access to Macleod Trail via 194th Avenue to the east, Stoney Trail to the North and with access to the foothills, Kananaskis and the Rocky Mountains to the West.”
Furthermore, it provides homeowners the most efficient location. “Unlike some communities that are surrounded by other developments, Cardel’s Silverton community has a natural buffer adjacent to the community with the environmentally protected Priddis wetlands to the east.”
“Metro One is located directly adjacent to established commercial services in Silverado, there is currently a future commercial site designated for grocery, directly across Silverton Street, while the Silverton master plan includes several mixed-use sites located next to the future LRT station,” he adds.
“Cardel will also be hosting homebuyer educational events in July, along with VIP registrant and Realtor events in August,” Saunders says.
