Minto Communities unveiled a wall mural, called Minto Way, on Friday, Jan. 17 at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

The child-friendly, colourful wall greets children and families as they walk through one of the busiest parts of the hospital. This is the first hallway naming at the CHEO.

“It’s an honour to unveil Minto Way to brighten the day of those who walk the halls of CHEO daily,” said division president of Minto Communities Ottawa, Brent Strachan, in a press release.

“Since 2001, we’ve built a strong partnership with CHEO and we’re proud to continue giving back to the community we serve.”
Minto Way will become the most visible part of Minto’s ongoing investment in CHEO.

Minto Communities Canada, a division of the Minto Group, sponsors the CHEO’s Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. For the last 19 years, the company has designed and built a grand prize Minto dream home for each year’s lottery, helping to raise more than $65 million for patients, families, medical practitioners and researchers. Minto has also allocated funds to the For the Kids Gala, the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and other urgent needs.

“We are delighted to work with an enthusiastic team who care about designing a dream home that will delight the community and inspire thousands to support CHEO,” said Kevin Keohane, the president and CEO of the CHEO Foundation. “This year will mark our 20th year working together .... Minto Way is being named and celebrated in recognition of a further $1.5-million cumulative gift from Minto.”

Families like the Ryans have benefited from generous donations to CHEO.

“Our daughter Blaire has relied on CHEO for four years. At birth she was rushed here and we lived in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for two months. We’ve been in many departments at CHEO and we are so grateful for the level of the care, the compassion of staff and having a CHEO School in the same building where Blaire can be treated by specialists while in a calm environment.”
