Serendipity at Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine

There are some communities where everything seems to work, like their success was a preordained conclusion. Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine can be counted as one of these rare residential developments where nothing – not even a global pandemic – could have thwarted its growth.

As luck would have it, Rohit Land Development had planned for the grand opening of the community at the end of March last year, which just so happened to be the week after the world went into lockdown. But after a short time of uncertainty, it would seem that they had nothing to worry about, as demand in this nature-blessed community in southwest Edmonton just took off.

Today, even with those long odds working against it, Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine is on the verge of completion as demand continues to surge.

“We have seen such great demand and momentum that we are developing the remaining stages this year, finishing our development schedule a year ahead of what was initially planned,” says Kelsey Siemens, Senior Marketing Coordinator, Land Development.

Ridgecrest’s success is testament not only to the picture-perfect location as the last new ravine-adjacent community on this side of Edmonton, but also the skill and agility of the award-winning developer to navigate through such challenging times.
“We never had the traditional ‘launch’ of the community that we see with others,” she adds. “Instead, we had to shift and have all of our showhomes available for viewing on our website through virtual tours. Interestingly enough, even now that showhomes are back to normal, the virtual tours page is still one of the highest visited on our website.”

Demand can only get stronger with the new ravine lots available. “There is only a handful of ravine-backing lots, but both the ravine-backing, and ravine-fronting lots will have front attached garage homes catering to the move-up homebuyer. The builders of these lots are ART Homes and Gill Built Homes,” Siemens says.

Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine is a 90-acre community with housing options from entry-level townhomes to spacious estate lots.

“We have seen a wide variety of people moving into Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine, a lot of young families moving up from renting and into their first home, or families moving up from their first home into their forever home,” Siemens says.

“Of course, everyone loves the highly desirable southwest location, but the biggest draw is that the community is situated right on the ravine which is unique for this area. The ravine coupled with current amenities, and future amenities coming to the area make Ridgecrest a natural choice for many families.”

She projects that the community will be developed out this year. “Half of the total houses in the community, including lots that are being developed this year, have been sold to residents.”
It is easy to see why Ridgecrest has been such a hit.

It is a completely walkable community where everything needed to enjoy a modern lifestyle is just a stroll away. There will be a big commercial area just at the entrance to the community, which will have a grocery anchor store, shopping and employment opportunities for residents.

There will be schools – the only ones approved in southwest Edmonton – including two high schools to be built adjacent to Ridgecrest on the other side of Rabbit Hill Road along with a recreation centre. There’s even a site for a Catholic church and an ETS transit centre is proposed for a site on the neighbourhood’s northern outskirts.

Still, it is the community’s ravine-adjacent location that has a lot to do with its appeal. Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine backs onto Whitemud Creek Ravine, and there will be beautiful homes on the ridge that overlook stunning sceneries. Everyone in the community will have access to walking paths that lead through this wonderful natural landscape and storm ponds.

Besides ART Homes and Gill Built Homes, Ridgecrest also offers single-family homes from Blackstone Homes, Alquinn Homes, San Rufo Homes and Victory Homes; Fekete Homes offers bungalows, and Rohit Communities is constructing duplexes as well as townhomes.

Modern craftsman styled homes are built with utmost care using sturdy and stylish James Hardie cement fibreboard siding. Siemens says that it’s an extra detail that adds to the lovely streetscapes. “We will even have a beautiful front entry feature to the community that has copper and bronze notes to it, and we’ve paid attention to all other details from the trails along the pond all the way to the address plaques.”

Siemens says they have homes for any budget and lifestyle. Downsizers, singles, young families and those with older children will all find a home that suits their tastes here, he says.

Rohit Land Development has played a crucial role in creating this dynamic new area in Edmonton. The 35-year-old land developer and homebuilding company is an institution in the city and is responsible for such hit Edmonton-area communities, such as Starling at Big Lake and Arbours of Keswick in Edmonton.

The future also is very bright for Ridgecrest at Glenridding Ravine, Siemens says. “There are two K-9 schools under construction in neighbouring communities, set to open in 2022, new commercial opening up all around the community, with neighbourhood commercial coming right to Ridgecrest in the coming years as well. In the future, the community will also be bordering a transit centre, a recreation centre, and a high school! Ridgecrest already has a lot to offer residents, with so much more to come!”
