The 7 most mouth-busting burger joints in Winnipeg

Beef it up in Winnipeg. Even if the biggest burger comes from the tiniest place, there’s always room for more.

theburgerplaceThe Burger Place – Fall in love with the friendly, warm service on a cold, inhospitable day. They know your name here and they like to use it… A Portage Avenue landmark. Order and enjoy the Deluxe Burger with everything on it and don’t forget the chili. (This author’s personal favourite – with everything on it, of course.)

Mrs. Mikesmrs mikes – A righteous, red and white take-way restaurant regally recognized for their King Burger. Not only is this burger big, it’s built for the best and once you’ve been treated royally, common dining won’t do.

Blondie’s – The white building at the north end of Main Street is not to be forgotten. Blondie’s burgers are as beautiful and statuesque as the name implies. Here’s where you can order by the pound. There’s even a 9-pounder!.

Five Guys Burgers – The newest and fast-growing chain to hit 5 guysWinnipeg is serving up some tasty specials that are hard to fit inside your head. These five guys like their size and you will too… Started with peanut oil and family passion, it can be found on Pembina, Portage and Regent.

DalyDaly Burger – What a cool and colourful diner. Well-known at the corner of Corydon Avenue and Daly Street, this burger spot has Coney Island carnival style with ice cream and smiles. Filling for the whole family and affordable too.

Boon Burger & Cafe – And now for something completely beef-free – all vegan burgers on a plant-based menu, all the time. Healthy, juicy and just what Wolseley wants. Start smart with the Baja burger or if you like things spicy, there’s the Buffalo burger with Louisiana hot sauce.

The Red Top – There’s lots to choose at this little, local delight, but a Mediterranean favourite is the Greek burger with feta cheese and tzaziki. Of course, you can try the Top burger or Top dog, but if you’re brave (and starving), man-handle the Monster Burger, six patties high.
