The buzz around northwest Edmonton continues to capture the attention of homebuyers. There’s something special about the urban redevelopment of this ideal location in the city, and the efforts to preserve its unique connection to nature, that make it a sought-after new home destination.

Where can you find it? The northwest is bordered by 118 Avenue to the south, 97th Street NW to the east, 184 Street NW to the west and Anthony Henday to the north, to the border with the city of St. Albert.

Steady growth has occurred in this sector of Edmonton over the last several years, with new communities and developments adding freshness to the already established neighbourhoods that fill the area.

The Village at Griesbach (villageatgriesbach.com) is one of those communities, and it’s not only one of the most beloved new communities in the northwest, but it’s also coveted throughout the city. Its vibrant natural amenities and historic legacy are what make this award-wining redevelopment (and former military base) by the Canada Lands Co. (CLC) such a magnificent place to call home.

Georgette L’Hirondelle, Marketing Manager for Canada Lands Company in Village at Griesbach notes “what makes Griesbach a top choice is the fact the entire area has been under construction since early 2010, the community has established homes, schools, shopping and other amenities. The surrounding communities include transit, health care, major roads and other established infrastructure.”

“Some of the primary benefits of living in an infill development versus a new community are being closer to the city core, having established transit routes that are close by, shorter commutes, a variety of businesses, mature trees, and being surrounded by other neighborhoods, “says L’Hirondelle.

The Village at Griesbach has all these features and more. Plus, there are a variety of exceptional builders to choose from in Griesbach, including Concept Homes, Coventry Homes, Homes by Avi, Impact Homes, and Pacesetter Homes.

One of the newest developments to be announced to the northwest area is Cantiro Homes at Castlebrook. Located west of 97 Street and north of 167 Ave, Cantiro Homes is excited to be offering their newest Life Collection™ homes in Castlebrook. This infill community is uniquely situated with access to a wide selection of established amenities and Anthony Henday Drive.

Excellent amenities are in high supply in the northwest, including a variety of restaurants and entertainment to experience throughout the area.

Prepare yourself for a flavour-packed menu, filled with authentic dishes like their Steamboat Jambalaya and Crawfish and Shrimp Etouffee. Some other must-tries are their Southern Fried Chicken (Tip: add the waffles!) and their Gumbo Nachos, which is a southern twist on the traditional. Check out louisianpurchase.ca for the details.

Paramo Café serves up 100% Venezuelan coffee and is a neighbourhood hot spot in Griesbach. Located at 9940-137 Ave, this café offers a fantastic coffee menu to choose from and in-house made dessert selection that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Find them on Instagram at @paramo_cafe_yeg.

Their extensive selection of frozen soup broths means you can take home their delicious meals for future consumption. Www.phoever.ca for more, including on-line orders.

Also in Griesbach is Scoop n Roll Creamery, a local favourite that has the unique process of pouring a liquid ice cream base onto an iced pan, customers then choose from an assortment of fresh fruits, nuts, and other premium ingredients that get mixed it. The totally personalized flavour is then rolled into an ice-cream treat to enjoy. Visit scoopnroll.com to learn more.
For a fun night out with friends look no further than Cineplex Cinemas located on 14231 137 Ave NW. Check out the latest Hollywood releases, or new independent film showings, in their fantastic theatres. This location also offers the VIP experience, which means you can sip on crafted cocktails and have apps, dinner and even dessert served straight to your extra comfortable seats.

If you’re looking to get some shopping done, you certainly won’t have to go far. There are multiple mall options to choose from, such as Skyview Centre, which has exceptional shops and services (including groceries, medical and dental clinics) to make living in the northwest convenient for you and your family.
