Among the constellation of Excel Homes’ family-friendly single-family home models, the Stanley is its biggest star. The functional, stylish and very popular home has been a standout in all its show home parades, and its latest version opening in the southeast community of Walden is about to take Stanley’s popularity to another level.
It’s easy to see why the flexible, family-friendly Stanley is a best seller for Excel Homes. The open-concept main floor is extremely adaptable to conventional or contemporary designs; the practicality of the layout suits the needs of the busy, young, modern family; and at the heart of it is its affordability.

The new two-storey, three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath Stanley will have 1,870 square-feet of living space and an additional 423 square-feet of developable space in the basement. It is slated to open on April 18 in Walden and will display the new standard finishes that Excel believes will make it the family home of choice.
“The Stanley is a great entry level home,” says Excel Homes’ marketing coordinator, Zachary Boyce. “The good use of space is what people have loved about it, and it’s easy enough to add popular features, like a developed basement to fit the buyer's needs.”

He says the central bonus room at the top of the stairs is one of its most popular features. “It gives families a convenient shared environment to gather for movie nights or play video or board games, while still giving each member the privacy they need by separating the master bedroom from the other two.”

The new Stanley model also boasts an L-shaped kitchen that is ideal for maximizing corner space while eliminating traffic. With the new, large island, the layout offers the best interaction with family and friends.

And now, it will even have more features to love, as Excel Homes expands the list of its new standard selections. Among the new features that will come with every Excel home are 10-inch wide steps for the stairs, nine-foot ceiling height and luxury vinyl plank flooring on the main floor. The new show home will also feature such popular options as painted MDF cabinets in the kitchen, and quartz countertops.

“Raising our standard offerings gives our homes that much more value,” Boyce says.

The Stanley’s charms don’t end there either. Its list of options runs eight-pages long, proving the extreme versatility of its design.

“Side entrances, depending on lots, are available, and there are two options to develop your basement to suit the family’s growing needs,” Boyce says. “We take pride in the amount of customization that we can offer our buyers. It’s just one more way that they can add value and at the same time personalize their home to their needs.”

Walden was deliberately chosen as the community to showcase the new Stanley, as this young, energetic community by Genstar Developments in the southeast has proven to be a haven for the Stanley’s main demographic: young families.

“Walden just has so much to offer for those looking to move-up from their current home, to couples looking to raise a family,” Boyce says.

Walden is a well-established community in southeast Calgary, it already has numerous parks, pathways, and green spaces for residents to enjoy. There are several commercial centres in and around the neighbourhood to fit everyone’s needs – and more are coming, including the massive Township commercial development just down the road that is already under construction.

“Its proximity to Macleod Trail and Stoney Trail just makes it all that more accessible, it has everything young, active families can ask for,” Boyce adds.

Besides the Stanley, Excel offers a wide variety of housing types in Walden. “We have 12 models of two-storey, front-drive garage homes here, and six laned models for single-family. The Stanley starts in the low $400,000s in Walden. Our laned homes are full of character, and our front garage homes are spacious and offer plenty of room to grow into,” Boyce says.

As every Excel Homes show home parade offers, its soon-to-open parade in Walden will have its own design centre, where buyers can choose all their specifications in relative ease and comfort.

“It’s the perfect solution for buyers. They don’t have to go all over town to pick which pulls go with which cabinet. All the selections are in our sales centres, and they include professionally selected design palettes that can assist in figuring out the look for your home with ease,” he says.
