Tribute linking the past and future of the city with Linx Condominiums
April 28, 2021
It’s often said that Toronto is a city with a past as rich and warm as its future. Tribute Communities couldn’t agree more. This is why special care was taken recently to preserve a distinct part of this city’s storied history.
Due to its recent and well-deserved Heritage Designation, the quaint cottage at 292 Main Street in the heart of the Danforth will create a lasting, and tangible, link from Toronto’s past to its ambitious future in preparation for Tribute’s newest community, The Reserve Collection at LINX Condominium. Instead of erasing any record of this once proud home, Tribute Communities had a better idea – move it slightly (80 ft. east and a little to the north, to be exact) and incorporate it into the overall design. In other words, LINX Condominiums is creating a true physical link to Toronto’s illustrious past.
Heritage House
Built in 1887 and once the home of prominent east Toronto resident Donald George Stephenson, a lumber merchant and east Toronto’s first reeve (president of a village or town council) from 1888 to 1894, the Heritage House is a “rare example of an Ontario cottage style dwelling in the area… incorporating many High Victorian era embellishments.”
The home was conscientiously moved to its final destination by Laurie McCulloch Building Moving – a family run business specializing in moving historic and masonry buildings for more than 30 years. From there, it will be lovingly restored and merged with the podium of Tribute Communities’ latest offering of modern urban living in the city’s coveted east end – The Reserve Collection at LINX Condominiums.
“At Tribute, we pride ourselves in smart design and execution on all of our projects in the portfolio,” says Filippo Bello, executive vice-president, construction and project management, at Tribute Communities.
“Moving the heritage house at LINX Condos actually started years ago during the preliminary stages of design and today we have executed on that commitment. The milestone of moving the house to its final location, which will ultimately become part of the lobby/amenity space for our condo, is a testament to the amazing team of people involved at Tribute Communities, along with our trades and consultants.”
Award-winning builder
Seems only fitting that LINX Condominiums has decided to incorporate the Heritage House among a generous offering of on-site amenities that already includes a party room, guest accommodations, a tech lounge, outdoor terraces, a well-appointed fitness centre, lounge, kids’ zone and so much more.
All this and more awaits condo buyers on the Danforth at LINX Condominiums. With groundbreaking just around the corner and construction slated to begin in the fall.
