What’s better than one bedroom? Two with a view

Scout’s transformation of West St. Clair West continues apace, with the release of a new slate of terrace units. These larger, spacious two-bedroom suites come with significant outdoor space up to 400 sq. ft.

“One of the best attributes of a mid-rise building is the opportunity for significant terracing as the building steps down to better reflect its residential surrounding,” said Adidharma Purnomo, Vice President of Development at Graywood. “Because of the way Toronto grades toward Lake Ontario, an expansive terrace on the south side of St. Clair will have uninterrupted views all the way down to the water. It’s unique for the neighbourhood and we’re excited to be releasing these units.”

Scout Condos launched in the fall of 2018 following the success of its sister project, Scoop. At the time, Scoop was the first project to launch along this particular stretch of St. Clair. Graywood was attracted to the untapped potential of a neighbourhood that offered direct access to transit and a distinct community feel, and these instincts were proven correct with Scoop selling out. The project is now well under construction as focus shifts to the new release of Scout’s larger terrace suites.

“Scout really is its own, unique building. We’re delivering more residences and working with a new set of materials. We’ve evolved the form to reflect the ambitions of the community. This will be a new landmark in the area,” says Purnomo. “And since we’re tapping into an under-developed community, we’re able to offer pricing that is more reflective of a suburban project, even though we have a distinctly urban 416 address.

The Spring Terrace Suites are designed to appeal to young families, downsizers or anyone looking for spacious, single-level living with the convenience that comes with a condo. It’s yet another signal that this stretch of St. Clair is in the midst of a significant transformation.

The launch of Scout coincided with Metrolinx revealing plans to build a new GO Station and Smart Track Station at the corner of St. Clair and Old Weston Road, while other developers have begun targeting the area for their own projects. Toronto Public Library has begun its full-scale renovation of the local branch, adding to the transformations taking place.

“There’s certainly a lot more interest in what’s happening on West St. Clair West than there was two years ago,” says Purnomo, who currently sits on the local BIA. “There’s a feeling of optimism. This is a community that welcomes smart, contextual development. That is exactly what we’re aiming to deliver.”

Scout is located on St. Clair West, east of Old Weston Road. The new Spring Terrace Suites range from the $600s to $1 million. The building rises 11 storeys and consists of 268 units, offering one (plus den) and two (plus den) bedroom layouts ranging from 410 sq. ft.to 1,260 sq. ft. The sales centre is located at 1791 St. Clair Avenue West. To register, please visit scoutcondos.com
