Introduction

Forming a neat square in northeast Brampton, Springdale lies to the south of Mayfield Road, west of Airport Road, east of Heartlake Road and north of Castlemore Road. This section of Brampton has been an up-and-coming neighbourhood for the past few years and as such, is a site for several construction zones for proposed shopping plazas and more new-home establishments.

Lifestyle

Springdale is predominantly residential and homes are mostly detached and surrounded by expansive vacant lots that are up for commercial or residential development, nature parks, conservation areas, lakes, and large outdoor facilities. It is also a hotbed of campaigning activity during the Ontario electoral races with representatives from all the three major political parties residing in this neighbourhood.

The Vibe

In Springdale, the resident families seem to mostly keep to themselves and their own cultural and religious activities. There is a strong Sikh community in the area. Punjabi is the main spoken language in the area, and thus it is common for people to refer to this neighbourhood as "Little Punjab."

With a population of over 150,000 people, the majority of the residents in Springdale belong to the Sikh community. Springdalians are a tight-knit community so you will notice everyone from the barbers to the accountants, doctors, restaurant owners and lawyers are local neighbourhood residents! There is a strong sense of community here.

In the Area

Springdale, specifically near the Bramalea and Sandalwood area, will soon be seeing an influx of retail and shopping centres that are under construction and slated for release in 2016. These plazas will house leading brands such as McDonald's, Shoppers Drug Mart, Freshco, Tim Hortons and other such conveniences. Other neighbourhood amenities include lush parks, community centres and the soon-to-open Springdale Library and Recreation Centre.

Local transit in Springdale is courtesy of Brampton Transit that connects residents to other commuting systems such as Mississauga Transit, York Region Transit, and Toronto Transit Commission. "Züm" busses (pronounced Zoom), previously known as AcceleRide are also a preferred option. Springdale is situated close to GO transit hubs that open it up to the Pearson International Airport and Toronto.

Springdale at the offset seems uninspiring, but there are clear indications of development and youth community undertakings that are endeavouring to bridge the gap between Springdale and other neighbouring communities. The best part of the neighbourhood is all the open space that promotes a healthy outdoor lifestyle for growing teens and active adults.

Detached homes in Springdale start at an affordable price tag of $500,000. Most households pool in an earning of over $80,000 which makes it comfortable for folks to buy new homes for their families which also include extended members. Indian grocery stores provide reasonable rates, while curry places with authentic ethnic fare can be squared off at $40 for two.

Sesquicentennial Park

Sesquicentennial Park is a massive swath of land that has been converted to house a baseball diamond that hosts local baseball and softball tournaments and is a hotspot for kids and their parents.

Heart Lake Conservation Area

Heart Lake Conservation Area is a neighbouring attraction. It is a 418-acre nature hub famous for its treetop trekking and zip lining, fishing, pool and splash pad, picnic spots, hiking trails and boating facilities.

Castlemore Golf and Country Club is a beautiful semi-private nine-hole golf course situated on Countryside Drive, near Airport Road. Castlemore is a local favourite for golfers of different skill levels.

Professor's Lake Recreation Centre

Professor's Lake Recreation Centre is home to a beautiful spring-fed lake with a beach for swimming, playing volley ball and other water sports, and a lakeside pathway for walkers and bikers.
