Briarwood

Saskatoon

Introduction

Surrounded by a brick wall and elegant trees, Briarwood is one of Saskatoon’s finest high-income neighbourhoods. Upon seeing the entrance sign surrounded in flowers, it becomes obvious that Briarwood is a community of luxury. Briarwood is bordered by 8th St., Boychuk Drive and Taylor Street in its respective northern, western and southern areas. The eastern edge borders a large naturalized park and city limits.

Lifestyle

Briarwood's wide curving streets and large number of parks keep everything at a slow and quiet pace. The neighbourhood has a very natural feel with its large trees and close proximity to the beautiful Saskatchewan landscape. Residents are often found cycling around the lakes and ponds or taking their children to splash in the spray park.

Dollars & Sense

From a real estate point of view, Briarwood is expensive. However, prices for groceries and restaurants at the nearby Lakewood Suburban Centre are on par with the rest of the city. The neighbourhood offers lots of fun and free community activities at its parks, so you don’t have to spend money to fill your summer afternoons.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

Briarwood’s peace and quiet make it the perfect match for some, but it may not be lively enough for others. While certain aspects of the neighbourhood make it a great place to raise a family, it is very expensive to own a home here and those who are looking to be close to more urban action should consider other neighbourhoods.

In the Area

Parks, naturalized areas and public, green spaces give Briarwood a great natural atmosphere. The main park has a small community centre for children and a lake across the road. While there are no schools or commercial developments in the area, the nearby Lakewood Suburban Centre offers many amenities such as grocery stores, a post office, restaurants, and medical and dental offices. This is where Briarwood residents go for daily shopping.

Meet the Neighbours

This neighbourhood is well suited for middle-aged residents and families. The primary age group here is between 40 and 55 years old. An average household income of nearly $150,000 – according to the City of Saskatoon – means that Briarwood has many wealthy residents.
