An active lifestyle is apparent in this neighbourhood as you see joggers and dog-walkers almost everywhere throughout the community. The recreational parks always have a soccer game on, whereas the ice arenas are packed to the brim during winter months for skating lessons and hockey games.
There is something for everyone in Lake Bonavista so expect to see a great diversity of families, young professionals just starting out as well single people and senior citizens. This is a busy neighbourhood for children, with plenty of schools and playgrounds and recreational opportunities. Pets are incredibly prevalent thanks to lush green spaces and parks to take long walks in.
Lake Bonavista is definitely an average to luxury neighbourhood. Many of the homes in this area can be considered luxury and arrive at a high price. However, most of the restaurants and cafes in the area are priced fairly, meaning you can get a cup of coffee for a lower price despite living in a higher priced area.
This area is definitely car friendly. While plenty of residents cycle and walk around the neighbourhood, to leave the area cars seem to be necessary. While there is the nearby Canyon Meadows Train Station and two buses that drive through Lake Bonavista, they aren’t as convenient as inner-city transit routes.
Lake Bonavista is centrally located in SouthEast Calgary with close access to all of the amenities and health care centres that residents require. The neighbourhood itself houses several medical clinics and is only a 5-10 minute drive to an Urgent Care center. With nearby Fish Creek Park and the private lake, the residents of Lake Bonavista are exceptionally lucky to have ample recreational space to enjoy.
Lake Bonavista is a great neighbourhood to enjoy living in. While it is considered to be a suburban neighbourhood, many people point out that it is only a 20 minute drive into downtown, making it much more accessible than the South end’s newer suburban developments. This neighbourhood can be very quiet which is good or bad depending on your lifestyle preference. Overall, it is a very well-rounded neighbourhood with plenty to do and see.
A staple for long-time residents of Lake Bonavista, Brewsters Brewing Company & Restaurant is a great spot to grab a meal or try out the newest beer on tap. Brewsters always draws a crowd.
