Spring Park

Charlottetown

Introduction

Spring Park is a Charlottetown neighbourhood enclosed by North River Road and University Avenue from west to east, and from the Marysfield area in the north to the area of Pond Avenue in the south. Incorporated as a village in 1956, Spring Park was amalgamated into Charlottetown in 1958 and was one of the first post-war suburbs developed during the 1960s.

Lifestyle

Spring Park is situated closely to Charlottetown’s main shopping district. As a mostly residential area with lots of green space for recreation, the neighbourhood is generally middle-class with some upward mobility. The community brings together students, single adults, retirees, and working-class families. While it’s a quiet neighbourhood, there is always something to do.

The Vibe

Laid-back and mellow, Spring Park is a great place to come home to after work and school. Active people enjoy the quiet, tree-lined streets and many green spaces to get out and get moving. There is a shopping plaza downtown, as well as a selection of bars and restaurants where you can grab a bite and watch the game.

Meet the Neighbours

Spring Park is a working-class neighbourhood. There are students who attend university and college, as well as young families who send their children to Spring Park Elementary School and St. Jean Elementary School. Retirees and residents of all ages enjoy the calm and pleasant neighbourhood, which is always well populated due to its central location.

In the Area

There are elementary schools in Spring Park and plenty of parks and green spaces to play in. Local law enforcement has a station in the neighbourhood, and there is a shopping plaza in the south end. Bars, restaurants, grocery stores, and many types of major retailers are available near University Avenue.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Spring Park is close to all the amenities, and is easy to get to and get around in. The lovely, tree-lined streets are walkable (and jog-able and bike-able). The neighbourhood is easy to drive through and around, and the buses pass through as well. Charlottetown also has taxicabs available, if so desired.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

Charlottetown is a fun, beautiful little city to visit or live in and features numerous professional services and shops. Residents can reach relaxing beaches in a few minutes’ drive, or check out the many historical points of interest in Charlottetown. While Spring Park is a nice little neighbourhood to settle down in, some of the older houses may require a lot of maintenance and repairs.

Dollars & Sense

With all the shopping choices nearby, there is something for every budget. Spring Park is close enough to University Avenue to be within easy walking distance of many amenities, and public transit services the community as well. Parks and green spaces are open to the public, and housing prices and rent are fairly reasonable.
