Cootes Paradise is bordered by the Burlington Bay to the north, Churchill Park ad Forsythe Avenue North to the east, Main Street West to the South and Cootes Drive to the west. Cootes Paradise is largely a natural wetland and nature reserve in the north, with McMaster University situated in the south.

Cootes Paradise is home to a lot of families with young children and students attending McMaster University. The neighbourhood is situated around the Cootes Paradise Nature Reserve and McMaster University, making it a very active neighbourhood. Residents enjoy biking, walking and jogging and the many cafes and restaurants clustered around the campus.

Cootes Paradise is on the pricier end as neighbourhoods in Hamilton go, which is expected considering it is an in-demand area. Homes in the neighbourhood fall towards the luxury end of the housing spectrum. However, Westdale offers amenities and access to dining and shopping at a very reasonable price point.

Cootes Paradise is very easily accessible; residents and visitors have easy access to the 403 via Main Street West, which can take them in and out of the city in a breeze. The area is also fully serviced by Hamilton Transit buses. The McMaster University campus is a huge hub for students, faculty and staff in Hamilton.

Cootes Paradise is just West of Westdale, a quiet, residential neighburhood with a quaint main stretch of shopping. Residents and students are very close to the cafes, restaurants and pubs Westdale has to offer. Cootes Paradise itself has all the major amenities associated with the university campus, but most residents head into Westdale for their shopping.

Housing options in Cootes Paradise proper are limited to the older homes built along Forsythe Avenue and Mayfair Crescent on the north side of the neighbourhood. Because of the access to parks, trails and natural beauty, these homes are in high demand and are largely priced as luxury options.

Cootes Paradise is a laidback community with access to all the natural beauty southern Ontario has to offer. There are many trails, parks and outdoor activity spaces. Homes are older and generous, situated on large lots and many are built in cottage-style. Cootes Paradise is known for its luxury and heritage homes close to McMaster campus.
