Introduction

Downtown Brampton has seen a huge influx of South Asian immigrant population mainly due to its proximity to the Pearson International Airport, not to mention the prohibitive cost of living, real estate and taxes in the neighbouring Toronto area. Outside of English, and not unlike the rest of Brampton, the next most commonly spoken language in this area is Punjabi, followed by Urdu, Gujarati and Portuguese.
