Introduction
The much sought-after neighbourhood of Elboya in Calgary is minutes south of downtown. It is located between two main arterial roads – Macleod Trail SW and Elbow Drive SW – and 50th Avenue SW in the south. Gorgeous views can be found throughout with beautiful parkland, such as Stanley Park and the shores of the Elbow River, both of which border Elboya in the north.
Lifestyle
Elboya's interior highlights include gorgeous tree-lined streets and blocks of single-family homes that back onto natural parkland. There are services and apartment blocks along the perimeter, which add diversity and convenience to the neighbourhood. Elboya is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Calgary and, given its proximity to downtown, it's also a favourite spot for both families and singles alike.
Dollars & Sense
Those who would like to live close to downtown should expect to pay a little more. There are some high-end homes in Elboya, especially those that back onto one of the numerous parks in the area. It’s not an exclusive neighbourhood by any means though, and as you get closer to the east-end industrial areas, there is more opportunity for finding goods and services to suit any budget.
The Good, the Bad & the Rest
Elboya was one of the neighbourhoods badly hit by the 2013 floods. Rebuilding efforts are still ongoing and many homes were damaged. Reparation work is helping and streets further away from the river were fine, but neighbourhoods along the Elbow are all built on low land and the risk will always be there for potential flooding.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Despite being centrally located, Elboya is still an easy area to access. Elbow Drive and Macleod Trail offer main roads north and south. Glenmore Trail is a major freeway that runs east-west and is just to the south of Elboya. Residents enjoy great access to public transportation too. Major bus routes follow Elbow Drive and the C-Train stops on the other side of Macleod Trail to the east of Elboya.
In the Area
There is a lot of history around Elboya. The Southern Alberta Pioneer Building is a memorial to the early pioneers, and residents can learn about the city’s builders while enjoying magnificent views of downtown from cemetery hill with the City of Calgary's Cemetery Tours. Riverdale Park and Sandy Beach Park are to the west and provide ideal spots for picnics or letting the dog out for a run.

Elboya is a friendly neighbourhood with many families or empty-nesters owning the post-war-era homes. Seniors also love the community for its many amenities for relaxed daily living. There is also a quality assisted-care facility at Maison Senior Living. With a new focus on secondary suites, younger singles are beginning to rent in the area too, and this provides a mix of demographics that cross all ages and lifestyles.

Beautiful sights and parks make Elboya a great place to live. The rolling topography of the area creates some majestic views, while the pathways along the Elbow River and natural treed parkland allows people to experience nature just minutes from downtown.
