Located near downtown Mississauga, the neighbourhood of Erin Mills begins at Dundas St. West and Mississauga Road in the east, and ends at Ninth Line and Winston Churchill Blvd. in the north. Average to larger luxury suburban homes characterize this neighbourhood, known for wide streets and lawns catered towards families with children. Demand for housing has increased over the years, resulting in higher home prices.

A diverse population lends to a variety of ethnic food choices, and fuels celebrations in Mississauga’s downtown core such as Carassauga, and the South Asian Heritage Festival.

Middle to upper middle class family homes characterizes the area, with the average family income being $113,030, according to Statistics Canada.

Erin Mills is home to several well-known public schools including John Fraser Secondary School, St. Aloysius Gonzaga and Stephen Lewis Secondary School which are all ranked in the top ten for Mississauga High Schools according to the 2014 rankings by the Fraser Institute. Right on the outskirts of the Erin Mills boundary is the campus for the University of Toronto Mississauga.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Erin Mills uses Mississauga’s MiWay bussing system that has 80 different routes covering 3,600 bus stops. Buying a pass or using a Presto Card would be the best option when using this service, as the fare is $3.50 per ride on its own. Erin Mills is close to several Go Train Stations including Streetsville Go, Clarkson Go and Erindale Go, all about 10-15 minutes from Erin Mills Town Centre.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

Erin Mills is designed for those who enjoy a fairly affluent suburban lifestyle. Denser urban centres are not too far away, with Toronto, Mississauga’s downtown core and Oakville all nearby. But a vehicle is needed to leave the city or you’ll be relying on public transit alone. Activities within the boarders of Erin Mills are limited other than Erin Mills Town Centre along with a variety of restaurants. There's a lot of construction going on in the area as it continues to be developed.

Dollars & Sense

Homes in this area can be pricey, and costs are expected to rise. The average sold price for a home is around $773,000, according to Mississauga Life magazine. Erin Mills contains mostly detached homes with some semi-detached. New developments will be bringing more condo options to the area such as the Downtown Erin Mills Condominiums, which is scheduled to be completed by 2016.

Erin Mills Town Centre

Erin Mills Town Centre is the second largest mall in Mississauga, and renovations are almost complete to make the mall look more appealing to shoppers and house more luxury brands.

There are several parks in the Erin Mills area, but Quenippoeon Meadows includes a splash pad, a baseball field and a soccer field. It’s conveniently located across the street from Erin Mills Town Centre.

Erin Mills Twin Arenas

Hosting skating lessons, hockey leagues and public skates, Erin Mills Twin Arenas is open between August 15 to April 15. They are also available for birthday parties or corporate events.
