Being an older neighbourhood with a significant amount of industrial and commercial space, the Montrose area is definitely working class. Montrose sees a higher rate of crime in the neighbourhood than the average Edmonton community. Edmonton police statistics show most of reported crime in the area is theft from vehicles and other property crimes. However, the city has undertaken a number of crime reduction initiatives along 118th Avenue that will also serve to improve the Montrose community's future outlook.

You can get anywhere in the city in just minutes thanks to these major roads.
