Eringate is a quiet and peaceful community with a suburban feel. Streets are quiet during the day with kids at school and parents at work. On weekends and in warm weather, the neighbourhood comes alive with residents playing in Eringate’s well-maintained parks and greenspaces. Residents are mid-to-upper class, while a small group of older condos and highrise apartment buildings along The West Mall featuring more affordable housing for lower income families

In the Area

The Nativity of our Lord Separate School and Roman Catholic Church are located in the south end while Michael Power St. Joseph High School is at Eringate Drive and Renforth. Three parks offer recreation spots – Briarcrest Park, Wellesworth Park and Eringate Park with the latter boasting a popular outdoor pool. Small retail strips are located along Rathburn, at Eringate and Renforth and at Wellesworth and Rangoon.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

This neighbourhood is serviced by bus routes along Rathburn, Eglinton and Wellesworth. The Wellesworth route connects residents to the TTC Subway system via Kipling Station in about 20 minutes. The majority of Eringate residents drive and can easily access Hwys. 427 and 401. Cycling is not a preferred mode of transit in this community.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

As Eringate is cornered by two major highways – Hwys. 427 and 401, properties located along the north and eastern borders may experience more noise and air pollution. The neighbourhood is sleepy with a suburban feel that may deter those looking for the city hustle-and-bustle. But for Eringate’s families and seniors, the community is well-established and residents take pride in their properties.

Dollars & Sense

Eringate is a mid-range neighbourhood to live in. While detached homes start at the $500,000 mark, they are generously sized on large and beautiful lots with good investment value. Those living on a lower budget can find suitable housing in older condominiums on The West Mall. Retail and dining options are limited and on the cheaper end of the spectrum.
