Inkster Gardens

Winnipeg

Introduction

A residential area in the northern region of Winnipeg, Inkster Gardens is bordered by Jefferson Avenue in the north, Keewatin Street in the east, King Edward Street in the west, and Inkster Boulevard in the south. As the name suggests, the area boasts plenty of green space, and the location offers a quick commute for residents working in the nearby Inkster Industrial Park.

Lifestyle

While Inkster Gardens is a newer community in Winnipeg's north end, most of the development here took place in the 1980s. This small neighbourhood consists primarily of detached homes and boasts a man-made lake and several parks for families and active residents to enjoy. Stroll down one of the area's tranquil trails, or venture outside of the community's borders to enjoy nearby shopping and entertainment options.

The Vibe

Quiet, residential, and family-oriented, Inkster Gardens isn't the life of the party but rather the home you return to after the party. While the area is free from the noise and congestion of commercial development, its northwest location provides convenient access to the shops, a movie theatre, and a casino on nearby McPhillips Street.

Meet the Neighbours

Located a mere five-minute drive from Inkster Industrial Park, many of the park's employees call Inkster Gardens home. A popular family neighbourhood, households of four or more people comprised more than 45 per cent of the population as of the 2006 census (more than double the city-wide average). Diverse and inclusive, Inkster Gardens is home to a strong Filipino community, representing a quarter of the area's population (2006 census).

In the Area

With man-made lakes, Garton Park, Garden Drive Park, and Rosehill Park within its boundaries – not to mention spacious Little Mountain Park nearby – Inkster Gardens has plenty to offer nature lovers. In addition to Inkster Industrial Park, residents enjoy its proximity to the airport and Red River Community College. Several small shopping plazas can be found along Keewatin Street to the east, with larger malls on McPhillips Street.
