Arches are trending in design – here are nine ways to bring them into your home
October 26, 2020
Have you noticed that arches are having a major moment in design? The first thing that pops into my mind when I think of an arch (or arc) is the rainbow, that perfect burst of colour in unison after a rainfall; it’s a natural wonder that always inspires. Architecture often mimics the natural world, and it’s no different with the arch, as it appeared in design as early as the second millennium BC. And the Romans famously used 200 arches in the construction of the Colosseum. Arches tend to lift the eye upward, symbolizing support, lightness and openness. These days, you can find the classic design element not just in doorways but on everything from cushions to earrings.
