Cantiro rises to the challenges

The last two years have seen unprecedented challenges in the new home industry due to a global pandemic and supply chain issues. But that didn’t stop Cantiro from forging ahead with its plans to be the city’s best integrated real estate company. And it worked!

At the height of this upheaval, Cantiro undertook a massive rebranding campaign that unified its specialized divisions under one combined entity. Now the company can say it is on the best footing ever for continued growth in the future, and homebuyers of every stripe can only benefit.

The Cantiro brand

For 25 years, the companies forged a path to success, producing about 200 homes per year in 10 communities in Edmonton and surrounding areas, including Spruce Grove and Leduc. Under the leadership of CEO and Founder, George Cantalini, the organization is now poised for further expansion in the province and beyond as Cantiro (pronounced: kan-TEE-ro).

“Since rebranding the Beaverbrook Group (Dolce Vita Homes, MODA, InHouse, Beaverbrook Communities, Beaverbrook Commercial) as Cantiro in October 2020, people have come to realize our major projects that have helped build the capital region,” says Jodie Wacko, Chief Operating Officer, Cantiro.

“From starting Skyview in north Edmonton over 25 years ago to developing the backbone of Windermere in the southwest to 2022 CHBA’s Best Community: The Hills of Charlesworth in the southeast – Cantiro has developed over 7,000 acres of land and built over 2,500 single family and 500 multifamily homes,” he adds.

Award Winning

Cantiro has already been twice named Multi-Family Builder of the Year, most recently at the 2022 CHBA Edmonton Awards! But the company has never been content on sitting on its laurels and has just launched Ascension Block – 11 premier infill townhomes nestled between 124th Street and Glenora.

Another exciting new community is Castlebrook in north Edmonton which boasts a fantastic location - just off 97 Street south of Anthony Henday Drive. With its unique infill development style, residents will enjoy all the benefits of the mature Castlebrook community which surrounds it.

Buyers can also find Cantiro’s new Life Collection of homes here, which consists of a series of single-family homes that have been designed for how you live. Within the Life Collection™ you’ll find three distinct homes series; Career, Entertain, and Family – each tailored to support a variety of unique lifestyles.

The Life Collection’s 24 new home models were launched last year, with many quickly becoming top sellers. “People have embraced the new brand and products. We have seen strong awareness and demand since the change,” Wacko adds.

This new line is particularly well suited to answer today’s homeowning challenges including rising interest rates.

“As part of the Life Collection, Cantiro offers homes at varying sizes and budget levels and has worked closely with our trade partners to bulk pre-order supplies wherever possible to provide the highest quality at the best value in a timely fashion,” says Cantiro Homes President Ryan Smith.

Designed for the times

“Each Cantiro Home’s standard specification is also designed to perform at least 15 percent higher than standard builds which ensures lower ongoing operating costs and qualifies the owner for rebates from their mortgage lenders. For those who are interested, we also offer additional environmental and sustainability options that can take your home all the way to a Net Zero rating.”

He also notes that interest rates still remain relatively low compared to the 20 percent seen in the 1980s, and people will still need new homes.

“When it all comes down to it, sometimes changes in your life mean that your current home just doesn’t meet your needs anymore. Weddings, growing families, working from home, and other factors can mean that it’s time to trade in what you have and get what works for your family. Quick possessions can be a great option if you need to adapt to your life changes sooner than later and we have been working with our financial partners to secure exclusive interest rates for our buyers,” Smith points out.

What buyers want

Cantiro has strategically injected quick possession homes into their inventory, to give buyers even more choice. “Many quick possession homes are in their final stages of construction in Greenbury in Spruce Grove, giving people the opportunity to move in this summer and fall.”
He adds that they are starting construction on the final Cantiro Townhomes units in Keswick and Sherwood Park. “It’s the last chance to live in these exciting developments that have been so popular,” Smith adds.

Cantiro has also spurred growth elsewhere. Their West Block mixed-use project – named CHBA ER’s Apartment Building of the year again in 2022 – has become a new retail and hospitality hub in Glenora with new tenants, including recently opened El Corazón and Leopard restaurants.

ONE at Keswick in southwest Edmonton has two new schools opening this fall and Keswick Square that will have more tenants opening in the coming weeks including Dominion Medical, YEG Psychology, Red Cat Salon, Kepler Academy Early Learning & Child Care, a physio therapist, and Bloom Dental

Growth ahead

And now, Cantiro is expanding beyond the province with Westmin 795 in Penticton, BC – only a few minutes’ walk from Okanagan Lake Beach. This exclusive collection of 22 contemporary boutique townhomes features optimized layouts with three bedrooms and sophisticated styling throughout. Cantiro has also started its first Ontario project – 900 King St. in Kitchener – building on their valuable experiences with their successful West Block and CX communities in Edmonton.

“Closer to home, we will continue to add to our home designs offering as we focus on new lifestyles and budget levels. Over the next few years, Cantiro is also planning to add additional communities in southwest, southeast, and north Edmonton as well as new areas in St. Albert, Sherwood Park, and Spruce Grove,” Wacko says.
