Excitement grows for the Calgary Fall Home Show
September 20, 2023
Fall is in the air. Leaves are turning, the weather’s just a little bit chillier, and pumpkin spice everything is everywhere. But for the DIY crowd, nothing gets them more excited than the return of the Calgary and Edmonton Fall Home shows.
Calgary’s home market is just zooming along, and the number of new homeowners in the province continues to rise. The real estate research website wowa.ca indicates that there has been a more than 10 per cent increase in home sales in the province over the past year.
With this many new homeowners, the 2023 Calgary Fall Home Show provides the perfect platform where they can get home design advice, home savings and lifestyle tips and the proper tools and materials to turn their new house into their dream home.
Lots of new ideas, presenters, and products to see at The Calgary Fall Home show, happening on September 29 to October 1 at the BMO Centre in the Stampede Grounds. Here are a few.
New in show
Coleen Pastoor, a 10-year veteran blogger and author, is positively giddy for her first appearance at the Calgary Fall Home Show. She is behind the Lemon Thistle blog, where she shares home renovation design and other home improvement tips, and she is eager to impart her expertise with the audience on the Main Stage.
Her main topic is on how to plan a DIY room makeover. “I’m so looking forward to sharing my room makeover planning framework,” she tells R+D. “I’ll discuss the steps I take for every space I take.”
What may be particularly interesting to new homeowners is that she will be touching on how to be AirBnb Super Hosts. Turning the home into an AirBnb can help in paying the mortgage down, and the insights Colleen learned from completing her own AirBnb project in Calgary will be invaluable.
“I spent more time in Calgary than I did at home to complete this project,” she says, and that she fell in love with the city in the process. “That’s why I’m doubly excited to be invited to participate in the Calgary Home Show!”
The Kamloops, B.C. native started blogging about a decade ago. “I have been privileged to teach live workshops, speak at conferences, and share tutorials on television. Last year I released my first book, and we opened our new AirBnb in Calgary for bookings. This year, I’ve been focusing on creating resources for others to take on their own DIY home projects.”
More to see
Casey Matulic, Show Manager for the Calgary Fall Home Show, says there is even more to look forward to. “We’re really proud to bring in new partners for this Fall show and ensure that attendees get the top tips, tricks and inspiration for any home improvement project they may be wanted to tackle for the end of the year.
She says among the many events getting buzz is the return of Bryan Bauemler, one of HGTV’s biggest celebrities. “He’ll be giving us a sneak peek into his new show that is airing this fall. Plus, he’s always got the tips homeowners are looking for when renovating their spaces; he’ll share how to add value to their homes.”
A few other notable speakers include expert organizer Megan Golightly of Go Simplified speaking on “Unlocking Freedom: Discovering the WHY behind your clutter & embracing letting go,” and The Visionary Husbands dishing out all the details on short term rentals, plus so much more.
“We have exciting and trendy new features this show including Camping Couture by Lavish Canvas, Opposites Attract by Partner with Sarah and a few new cash and carry features like Tangled Tree Markets Pop Up and Curate Vintage Market, Matulic adds.Go to calgaryfallhomeshow.com for tickets and more information.
