In with the Ox and out with the Rat!

How fitting that this Lunar New Year is represented by the Ox, and in particular a metal Ox. Even more fitting is how last year was the year of the Rat! The Lunar New Year is represented by the Chinese zodiac and the Rat represents first place, while the Ox represents second place.

What makes the Ox special is that in the lore, the Rat’s deceitfulness did not bother the Ox, he did not hold a grudge, showing a true virtuous nature and good sportsmanship. The story shows how the Ox symbolizes self-sacrifice, humility, being humble and honourable. Those born in the year of the Ox are said to have these traits as well.

This year the world needs the year of the Ox to take over from the year of the Rat more than ever. We have all been humbled by the effects of Covid-19 that ran rampant in 2020. With the roll out of the vaccine and high hopes of putting the virus behind us this year we all need to remember to stay kind and be calm, self-sacrificing, just like the Ox and as stated by our industry expert Dr. Henry. The Ox also represents good luck, harvest and fortune and is known to drive away evil. This metaphor could not hold more truth than what is needed in our current reality.

As the latest statistics start to come out it can be seen that 2021 is set to be a busy year in the real estate market for Canada, and British Columbia in particular. Everything is lining up for a good harvest, new vaccine to eliminate the virus, and a hot market in real estate blooming with opportunities as local residents look for more space in a new environment where working from home has become the norm for many. Whether you are looking for your first home, a larger home, or a smaller home, a new vacation home or simply to invest, this year of the Ox is destined to be fruitful.
