Mattamy Homes partners with SAIT/NAIT
Mattamy Homes, the largest privately held homebuilder in North America, announced a partnership with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to bolster skilled trades in Alberta.
NAIT and SAIT will each receive $125,000 over the span of five years to support student scholarships and awards - with a focus on marginalized communities or those experiencing financial barrier - to encourage more people to join the construction industry and the skilled trades, says Mattamy Homes Communications Director, Kaitlyn Anderson.
“We are also working with the schools to have students visit our construction sites to provide them with the chance to see how their classroom learning can be applied in real life scenarios,” she adds.
Anderson says the initiative is important to Mattamy Homes because the skilled trades shortage impacts everyone. “Growing the skilled trades is vital to the success of our province, the communities we create, in addition to our ability to provide housing to meet the province’s population growth.”
