What’s Happening

For the last decade Calgary has been celebrating the coldest month of the year with the most heart-warming event: YYC Hot Chocolate Fest! This year marks it’s 10th anniversary and now more stores are participating. “YYC Hot Chocolate Fest takes place over the entire month of February at cafes and restaurants across our beautiful city!” says Robyn Weatherly, marketing and communications coordinator for Meals on Wheels, the organizer of this beloved city-wide event. She says it’s unlike any other event as it can be held safely because it does not bring in large groups in one location, and this year she expects over 70 locations to participate. “Each business will have at least one unique creation to share! This year, we do have a few businesses participating that are located outside of the city limits.” Go to hotchocolateyyc.com for the participating locations.

Mark 101 begins final building

Mark 101 in Sage Hill is approaching the final stages of its development, as construction begins for the third and final building of this landmark condo development from Shane Homes Multi-Family.

Brooke Hawco, sales associate at Mark 101, says this final phase will have 17 floorplans including one-bed, one-bath to two bed-two bath suites. “There is a lot more choice for buyers and they can find one that is just right for their lifestyle,” she tells Inside Calgary.

“Homeowners can make their suite their own with the ability to mix and match endless options of customizable finishes, and our interior selections are all brand new with a bright, clean contemporary look,” she says.

Suites are from 613 to 946 square-feet and start from the mid $100,000s. “We also have a new show suite that can give visitors a taste of the lifestyle that one can enjoy in Mark 101, as well as to see the amenity-rich area in this rapidly developing northwest community,” she adds.

Capella opens new show suite

Brookfield Residential is starting the year with a stylish bang, as the renowned developer and homebuilder opens its new Capella show suite at the University District on January 30.

Although Brookfield Residential does have an existing presentation piece for Capella at the University District’s Discovery Centre, the new show suite is located in Capella’s first building itself and gives a much better insight into the lifestyle this singular development has to offer.

The new show suite brings Capella’s Estate Single Level Residences to life, as the Vela – a 1,644 square-foot two-bed, two-bath plus flex room model - details the enormous possibilities that life here can bring. “Capella’s doing really well and it is over 50 per cent sold already, the new show suite will certainly bring more interest,” Brookfield Residential marketing manager, Justin Castelino, tells Inside Calgary.

Capella offers both condos and Estate Single Level Residences, with the former starting from the high $200,000s and the latter from the mid-$600,000s. Tours are available by personal appointment, go to https://capella.brookfieldresidential.com/home to learn more.

SOLA is so cool

The future is now in Kensington, as the much-awaited SOLA condos brings tech savvy living to the modern urban home.

This nine-storey building going up in this popular northwest inner-city community has enjoyed strong demand and sold out of the first release of its 172 units. “We are launching the second batch of sales in February, as demand has continued to be very strong since day one and we sold out of our initial release,” says Harish Consul, President & CEO of Ocgrow Group of Companies, SOLA’s developer.

SOLA is Calgary’s first multi-family development with Amazon’s Alexa/Echo smart devices and a SOLA smart hub built into every unit with the fastest Internet speeds in Alberta. That’s just one of the many features that makes it one of Calgary’s best suited homes for the future. Go to solacalgary.com for more information.
