2026 is turning out to be a milestone year for Rohit Group, as the Edmonton-based homebuilder and developer won big at the 2026 BILD Edmonton Metro Awards of Excellence (AOE), taking home both Builder of the Year – Large Volume and Developer of the Year honours.

Rohit Group also took home awards for Best Mixed-Use Development for the Covenant Wellness Community in partnership with Covenant Health, the Safety Excellence award, and was also named a finalist in six other categories.

“Receiving both the Large Volume Builder and Developer of the Year awards in the same year is a tremendous honour – and a true reflection of the multidisciplinary strengths of the Rohit Group as a whole,” says Doug VandenBrink, VP of Rohit Communities. “Our team brings the same foundational values to everything we touch, whether that’s master-planned communities, housing, or mixed-use developments.”

Jag Mehta, Vice President, Rohit Homes Edmonton, says this is one of the biggest and most meaningful award that the organization has received. He adds that winning “never gets old,” but this one felt different.

“Winning Builder of the Year (Large Volume) for the fifth time is something we genuinely don’t take for granted. Five times is a statement. It reflects the homes we build and the experience we create for our buyers every single day.”

But winning Builder of the Year and Developer of the Year at the same time is quite an accomplishment. “That combination is what makes it feel like a real milestone. Because together, those two awards recognize both sides of what Rohit does: the home itself, and the larger community built around it. That’s not something that happens every year, and we don’t take it lightly.”

A legacy of success

Their 2026 wins at BILD EM’s AOE awards follows Rohit’s strong showing in the same awards last year, where they won Best Showhome Parade for the Chérot Laned Showhomes, Best Multi-Family Under $300,000 for the Cali Townhome in Ethereal Zen, and three more marketing awards (Best Integrated/Mixed Campaign, Best Brochure Package, and Best Website/App).

The success is a testament to their client-oriented approach and a commitment to family-oriented, nature-connected, recreation-minded lifestyles for both their homes and community developments. Which makes the ultimate winner to be their customers, who now get to enjoy living in a home or community that has been adjudged by the industry as among the best in the city.

“A buyer who purchases a Rohit home in a Rohit community gets a two-fold benefit: a well-designed, quality-built home within a thoughtfully planned neighbourhood,” VandenBrink says. “Our goal is simple – we want new homeowners to step outside on day one and already feel at home in their community.”

“For our buyers, it signals confidence,” says Mehta. “These awards are judged by industry peers who understand construction quality, design integrity, and buyer experience. When the industry recognizes you as the best, it gives buyers that added layer of assurance that they’re making the right choice.

But an even better outcome of the recognition is how it puts a spotlight on Rohit Group’s continued contributions to the city’s growth, and not just through the development of new communities and homes.

“For example, through Rohit Infrastructure, we’re transforming Alberta’s healthcare landscape by developing mixed-use wellness projects – in partnership with providers like Covenant Health – that integrate health facilities, senior long-term care, residential units, and commercial spaces, all in support of healthier, more connected communities,” VandenBrink says. “These awards remind us that this vision is resonating.”

2026 growth continues

Rohit Group, of course, is not resting on their laurels, and they have a lot more developments planned for the rest of 2026. And with the passing of the federal GST rebate program for first-time homebuyers, where buyers can save up to 5 percent on their purchase, a lot more people in the city will have the opportunity to grow with them.

“There’s a lot to look forward to,” VandenBrink says. “On the community side, we have a grand opening this summer at Woodhaven Ravine.” (See story on page 18.) “In addition, we’re launching three new neighbourhoods: Pintail in Big Lake gets underway in 2026, followed by Fields of Uplands in southwest Edmonton and a project in Strathcona County in 2027.”

Mehta says Rohit Homes is excited for what’s coming on the Designer Interiors™ front. “We can’t give too much away just yet, but buyers should watch this space there are some exciting developments coming to the program that we think will raise the bar on what a new home can look and feel like.”

Rohit Homes currently has showhomes in Arbours of Keswick Edmonton, Cambrian Sherwood Park and Chérot St. Albert for buyers to walk through and experience Rohit Homes. “We’re also excited about We also have new communities coming in 2026 and 2027 where buyers will get a look at our bold new interiors.”

More on the go

Rohit Communities is currently developing eight communities in the Edmonton region, amassing 2,700-plus acres of lifetime developments in Alberta.

“We’re especially proud of Cambrian and Chérot – both are master-planned communities with distinct character and architectural styles,” VandenBrink says. “What sets them apart is that from day one, residents had access to completed playgrounds, ponds, and walking paths. That lived-in feeling from the moment you arrive is something we work hard to deliver.”

Mehta says he is excited for people to discover their Landon duplex model. “It’s a good example of what Rohit does well: it’s stylish, practical, and easy to picture yourself living in. At 1,565 square-feet with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, it hits a sweet spot for a lot of buyers because it feels attainable without feeling basic.”

He says another thing to love about the Landon is how consistently it shows up across Rohit’s lineup. “You can find it in communities like Cambrian, Arbours of Keswick, Chérot, Kinglet Gardens and Mattson, which says a lot about how well it resonates. For me, it’s a strong reflection of the kind of home buyers are responding to right now – design-forward, functional, and right-sized for real life.”

The Rohit promise

The abiding promise at Rohit though is a continued focus on excellence. Whether in the designs of their home, or in the layout of their communities, it is the comfort of their customers that is top of mind.

“At the end of the day, buyers will always want and expect quality – in their home and in their community,” VandenBrink says. “Regardless of where the market sits at any given moment, Rohit will remain a top choice for those ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

“Honestly, our buyers give us the most confidence,” Mehta adds. “Edmonton buyers are still very much engaged; they’re just being more thoughtful. They want value, but they also want a home that feels distinctive. Right now, between our Designer Interiors™ included in every home and the GST rebate available to first-time buyers, we’re able to deliver both. That plays directly to our strengths.”
