With a firm grasp of history and an eye on the future, the Village at Griesbach stays on the path of smart growth by balancing the needs to honour its past with the necessities of a modern lifestyle.

This Canada Lands Company (CLC) endeavour to turn this former Canadian Forces base in the heart of Edmonton into a progressive community for the future is going exactly as planned.

“We are currently in the planning and production phase of a new show home parade, expected to open June of 2021,” says Georgette L’Hirondelle, CLC Marketing Manager, Real Estate. It will be a fitting follow up to Village at Griesbach’s win for best show home parade at the 2020 BILD Alberta Awards.

“Plans have also been approved for the Village at Griesbach newest water feature, Maple Leaf Pond. As well, new businesses are being added to the commercial space, shopping, dining and personal services,” she adds.

CLC says they are focused on making Village at Griesbach an innovative and progressive urban village built with community in mind. “The design ensures access to daily conveniences and amenities within the community. Creating a balance within the urban village is the kilometres of interconnected walkable tree-lined trails, winding through the numerous parks and lakes,” L’Hirondelle says.

It is a community for everyone with a wide range of home styles fitting every budget, from condos to estate homes. It also has something for everyone when it comes to amenities, as 23 percent of its land is dedicated to the preservation or creation of parks, lakes, green spaces, recreation fields or lifestyle amenities.

Winning BILD’s 2019 Best Community in Alberta, Village at Griesbach also pays tribute to the property’s military heritage. “Streets and parks have been named after military heroes and battles in which local military units participated. As well, statues have been erected to commemorate the former base’s namesake, Major-General William Griesbach and his wife, Janet.”

We are currently in the planning and production phase of a new show home parade, expected to open June of 2021.

Village at Griesbach is located 12 minutes to downtown, while its commercial centre has become a busy hub of activity in the neighbourhood with a list of popular shops, eateries and services.

Classic architecture of homes goes well with the homage to its past. “Our architectural designs and mixed housing styles from apartments to estate homes ensures the diversity of streetscape in this vibrant community. With our variety of builders, we are able to offer several solutions to assist future homeowners with defining their home in Griesbach,” L’Hirondelle says.

Located in North Central Edmonton, Village at Griesbach began development in 2003, but there is still has a lot of room for growth. “There is a large area that remains to be developed throughout the community, which will eventually see 13,000 people living in about 4,700 homes,” L’Hirondelle says.
