Ottawa Fall Home Show
It was all things for the home at the Ottawa Fall Home Show that took place Sept. 26-29 at the EY Centre. New Home + Condo Guide media consultant Julie DeBoer (above left) chatted with Erin Bellwood from the Greater Ontario Home Builders’ Association.
Event-goers had the opportunity to vote for their favourite design in the last round of the Ottawa Citizen’s People’s Choice Awards for the Housing Design Awards, announced on Sat. Oct. 19.
The Minto Dream Home
Minto Communities is once again sponsoring the CHEO Dream of a Lifetime Lottery. This year, the house up for grabs is a Net Zero Energy Home, designed by Karen van der Velden and Tanya Collins Design. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). Visit the dream home in Potter’s Key at 348 Eaglehead Crescent, Stittsville, until Dec. 6, which is the last day to buy tickets, and a chance to win the home. Early Bird tickets deadline is Nov. 15.
2 new-home options
Dozens of people showed up on Sept. 21 for the release of eQ Homes’ CityTowns in Fernbank Crossing in Stittsville. They were treated to snacks, drinks and the opportunity to be one of the first homeowners to purchase one of the innovative back-to-back, two- and three-bedroom towns, with space for two cars.
Then, on Sept. 28, excited homebuyers did not want to miss out, and lined up overnight for the launch of bungalow singles, two-storey singles and two-storey towns in the 97-acre master-planned community of Provence, in Orleans.
Double-header for Caivan Homes
It was a couple of nights spent outdoors filled with anticipation for everyone who lined up days in advance of the Oct. 5 launch of The Ridge, a brand-new community in south Barrhaven, offering singles, towns and bungalows. Thanks to large white tents equipped with portable heaters supplied by Caivan, everyone stayed warm until the official opening at the sales centre at 4100 Strandherd Drive. The sandwich truck on site was greatly appreciated as well. Meanwhile on the same day in Orleans, Orleans Village saw a large turnout for Caivan’s new model home opening and lot release. Those in attendance kept their energy up with cups of Joe from the Equator Coffee Truck, on hand courtesy of Caivan.
The Avenues II open house
Uniform Developments welcomed the public into its design centre on Sat. Oct. 12 for the launch of its Westboro infill project called The Avenues II. Located in a residential area, when built out, The Avenues II will have three single family homes, six semi-detached homes and seven rear-lane townhomes. The Design Centre is located at 117 Centrepointe Drive, Nepean.
