Originally, this was a rural residential and large-lot suburban hamlet of about 600 residents. In 2024, the population of Maple Ridge was 106,489. If you’re a movie fan, you might like to know the city of Maple Ridge is a popular location for feature films and television series. The Ridge Film Studios is located downtown, and serves as a set location for episodic television programs. In the 1970s, scenes for the feature film Rambo were shot here.

This area is also very popular with equestrians, so it is very common to see people riding horses along the trails. This is mostly a young professional family demographic, with children under the age of 12, and the bulk of the population in the 35 to 54 age range.

Neighbourhood residents are mainly car dependent, however, Translink provides public transit services to Maple Ridge via buses and the West Coast Express. Haney Place Exchange is the main bus exchange, with every bus line in Maple Ridge stopping there at some point along its route.
